Hibiscus Sour

Hibiscus tea is the star of this non-alcoholic cocktail that takes sour to the next level, combining fresh grapefruit juice and lime for a bitter, puckering punch. Agave nectar and egg white provide some balance and texture, while All The Bitter New Orleans bitters— with bright flavors of anise, tart cherry, hibiscus, and rosehips—are the perfect complement to tie it all together. Visually striking, this is definitely a cocktail to serve when you want to impress!

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brew a cup of hibiscus tea, then chill.

  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and "dry shake" (without ice) for 15 seconds.

  3. Add ice, shake again until chilled, and double strain into a coupe glass.

RECIPE NOTE

Egg whites, which add a velvety texture to this drink, can be replaced with chickpea water (also called aquafaba) for a vegan cocktail. There are also several products that can be used to this effect, such as Fee Brothers Fee Foam.

Agave nectar can be replaced with simple syrup here, but like the egg white, it adds nice texture and flavor.
